eyeTeknix was designed from the ground up with security in mind, and incorporates numerous security mechanisms to ensure the privacy of patient data and prevent un-authorized access. eyeTeknix meets or exceeds HIPAA requirements through the deployment of the following security protocols.
Role-based authentication
Access to eyeTeknix is based on role-based authentication, which permits different levels of application access based on the user's predefined role. This permits the administrator to define user groups, each of which is permitted or denied certain access to the software. Users are assigned a username and password, and must login to access the system.
SSL encryption
Remote access to eyeTeknix is protected by 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption, ensuring maximum data security and privacy of patient record information. SSL is a proven, robust encryption technology commonly used in on-line banking and credit card transactions.
User encounter logging
User activity is tracked during eyeTeknix sessions, with the username and time of access to the system recorded and presented on the chart note and in the patient record. User accountability is therefore ensured and audit trails created.
Secure system architecture
The eyeTeknix technology architecture also enforces security through the utilization of Linux as the preferred server platform and a multi-tier, encrypted database structure that ensures data security and integrity. |
